If the Wolf had taken Carol hostage, that would have been interesting. (She did take the whole thing rather well, I must admit.) Yes, Denise has been taken hostage by the Wolf-and either Tara or Rosita should have shot him when they had the chance what good does handing over their guns do?-but we don't know Denise all that well anyways. Yes, Deanna got a bite and she's food for the walkers now, but Deanna wasn't a character we really cared about. No surprising loss or terrible murder.Īnd I suppose that's a good thing, for the characters if not the episode or the show itself.

All the signs pointed toward disaster, tragedy, grief. Surely, surely something awful was going to happen tonight. (Maybe not killed, but probably shot.) And then I thought maybe something would happen to Judith since nobody seems to pay attention to her most of the time. I thought Carl was going to get shot for sure. ( I've gone to some length to explain my feelings about the botched Glenn mystery, but it's more than that.) I'm not a fan, and after four truly terrific opening episodes, I'm even more let down by what's come since.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead isn't so much about great storytelling or plotting as it is about making us wait. And now we have to wait until next year to find out the consequences. Because we all knew that kid was going to crack, we just didn't know when or how.
